Golf

During the winter season Southgate's residents put on a monthly golf outing.  It's a best ball all for fun tournament.  Our last outing we had over fifty friends and relatives that participated.  Also every Tuesday and Thursday many Southgate's play in our resident run leagues.

Cards  & Dominos

Every Friday evening you can count on a group of Southgaters playing a mean game of cribbage or dominos in the Rec-Hall.  Also any slow or rainy day in the community you'll have a Texas hold-um card game going on.

Petanque

It's "petanque time" at Southgate during the winter months. Snowbirds meet every week to have fun and compete on the courts.  In a friendly atmosphere, four teams challenge each other and at the end of the season, a winning team is declared.

Spaghetti Party

Our Community Spaghetti party opens the yearly calendar with a rousing attendance of regular residents and newcomers.  It is the perfect occasion to strengthen the ties of our Southgate Family spirit.  Many helping hands ensure a successful dinner and Italian culinary experience.

Tai Chi

Exercise program designed to help maintain mobility, balance, memory, and bone density through slow, controlled movements.  The Tai Chi instructor , Steve Hensen, has over 25 years experience teaching the yang style Chi-Gung.  The class meets every Tuesday at 4:45 pm.  Students progress at their own pace, wearing comfortable clothing.  The class has been ongoing for 8 years and anyone can join at anytime.

Canada Day

Canadians say "thank you" to the Americans at the end of the winter season
by hosting an afternoon wine and cheese. We celebrate our great friendship
as neighbors and as friends.

TGIF

A 4:00-6:00 weekly occurrence. We reminisce of the days when the work
week ended by getting together by the pool with whatever juices we choose, to
share our experiences of the week and plan for the next event in our lives. A
time of camaraderie and friendship.

Bingo

Every Tuesday evening starting the first of January and ending the last Tuesday of March you can count on someone yelling BINGO in the community.  On average, thirty residents meet at the clubhouse for “small town” bingo.  Low stakes make for affordable entertainment.

Movies

Going to the movies is always fun.  A new release is chosen once every two weeks and viewed in the community hall.  For the entry price of 50 cents, we share a movie, pop corn and a soft drink at the intermission.

Shuffleboard

The community has five newly refinished courts that see activity daily.  Both ends of the courts are sheltered areas where the players can sit in the comfort of the shade.  Organized shuffleboard takes place on Friday afternoons all season long.  Twice during the season as many as forty people come out on a Sunday afternoon to play a fun game of shuffleboard.  Sunday play is followed by a PIZZA PARTY in the Clubhouse.  Over sixty to eighty shufflers enjoy pizza, dessert and music.
